Well, he did WIN. That is a mandate for his plan. Well, isn't it?
We haven't done a lot of "absolutely wonderful" at all, let alone in existing neighborhoods. Maybe the spot redevelopment idea will be better accepted and more successful than the redevelopment that starts with clear-cutting the whole neighborhood?

Hi, I'm Pete Theisen. I am a retired Acupuncturist. I have from time to time held various other jobs. I have an undergraduate degree in Social Work and I have worked as a Community Organizer. I have also been a business owner, owning several auto repair and refinish shops. In the late 70s I qualified as a Master Mechanic. I have extensive experience with non-profit organizations and four years on the Public Housing Staff of the City of Detroit. We need jobs in Sarasota – BUT we have to be careful that what we support with public money to create jobs, actually WILL create jobs. Most of the proposals only create one job, the usually lush job created for the person proposing the proposal! OK, sometimes the proposal will include a receptionist and maybe even an assistant – but the rest will be temps from out of town who never actually live here. That and a lawyer or two. |

Hello, I am Pete Theisen. I have appeared before this body before. Several years ago, after endless discussion and I dare say conflict, this body approved a site plan for the ever Notorious School Avenue Project. Although approved, the project is yet to be even started. The buildings remaining on the site are evidently unsecured and frequented by underworld figures of various description. This attractive nuisance has alarmed the homeowners who live nearby. |

Thanks to Control Growth Now for endorsing my candidacy! It sometimes seems that CGN is the only voice of restraint remaining as, one seat after another, the government appears to be selling out to "business". Don't get me started on "the press" . . .
But do the neighborhoods have to give up? It is certainly getting hard to fight with both the government and the press sold out.

Diana raised $9788.00 as of last report. Shannon raised $6928.70. I raised $946.32.
How much did you contribute? Don't be ashamed to tell yourself the truth! How much do you think came from outside of the district? |
