The other candidates are all singing the same song, in various keys. "Things are rough and we will have to cut city services and lay off city workers, sorry". Wrong answer I say! I have a little book that I carry in my shirt pocket that contains the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence says "(all men are endowed by their Creator with) inalienable Rights, that among these are Life" ... "to secure these rights Governments are instituted" you know the rest.
If you have a right to life you have a right to a job. If the private sector won't give you a job your right to life demands that the government secure your right to life, and giving you a job is one of the ways to do it.
Yes, I intend to create jobs in Sarasota, to secure the right to life! People's needs continue even when capitalism wants to take a break from providing jobs and income. Sarasota needs jobs now, preferably financed by the federal government, but jobs now by all means!
